A Japanese garden is more than just a beautiful place with plants.

It is meant to show nature in a small form and to bring the visitor to a state of calm.

Stones often stand for mountains or islands, and water symbolizes the sea.

In Zen gardens there is sometimes no water at all, only gravel that is reminiscent of waves.

Jedes Element wird sorgfältig ausgewählt und platziert.Every element is carefully chosen and placed.

Gardeners cut trees into a particular shape over many years.

Anyone who walks through such a garden is meant to slow down and look more closely.
